From salon floor to sustainable future

Together we make an impact

On April 22nd, during Earth Day, we globally reflect on the impact we have on our planet. At Rob Peetoom, this is not a one-off event, but a daily mindset. This year, we are once again using this day to share our progress, which is concrete, measurable, and above all, hopeful.

From waste to resource

In 2025, through our partnership with Green Circle Salons, we jointly recycled no less than 3,311 kilograms of salon waste. This includes materials that would normally end up as residual waste: aluminum foil, hair, color tubes, and color residues. Instead, they are now given a second life. Since the start of this collaboration in 2022, we have already converted over 8,400 kilograms of waste into new raw materials. This means thousands of kilograms less environmental impact and a significant step towards a circular beauty industry.

What exactly do we recycle?

The majority of our recycled material consists of:

  • Aluminium (62%): often used in color treatments
  • Hair (14%): surprisingly versatile as a raw material
  • Coloring residues (13%): carefully processed and reused

Green Circle Salons processes these materials into, among other things, insulation material, new raw materials, and even biofuel. What was once waste becomes part of something new.

Sustainability is in the details

Our commitment goes beyond just recycling. In all our salons, we make conscious choices that contribute to a lower ecological footprint. From energy-efficient LED lighting to water-saving wash units, every detail counts. For us, sustainability is not a final destination, but a continuous process of improvement. We believe that responsibility starts with daily choices, both big and small.

Moving forward together

The beauty industry has the power to change, and that change starts with collaboration. By working with partners, making conscious choices in our salons, and involving our customers in this process, we are building a more sustainable future, step by step. Earth Day reminds us that impact isn't just about grand gestures, but rather about what we do every day. And we will continue to commit to that, even after April 22nd.
